Have you read Mark’s letter of December 27th? The one about Joe being a careless spender and ending up broke, marriage broken up, son in hospital with no money for surgery et cetera?

I posted it here because I found this one of the best letters Mark ever wrote. Yes - it is a marketing example. One that really gets to you. Well, it got to me. Perhaps because I got free access to simpleology 102 from Mark and hadn’t been doing my homework properly over the last couple of weeks…

I paid him $1 btw to re-establish my commitment to finishing the course!

Apparantly I wasn’t the only person who thought Mark’s letter to be awesome. As a matter of fact, another letter was sent out the day after Mark’s which is almost an exact copy. Only Joe became Jason and $1 became $50 and it is not for simpleology.

That’s about the only changes which were made.

Mark and many other marketers do encourage people to use existing ad copy to model your salesletters to. But modeling is NOT the same as copying. Modeling is about using certain structures to build your letters. Which you can learn by copying a given letter by hand. This again is not for the purpose of publishing what you copied under your own name!

Well, it sure pissed Mark off to learn his letter being copied. And to make matters worse, this guy was not only plagiarizing his letter…

When investigating who this guy was, Mark found out that not only was his letter nicked. The complete bonus download for the Mother of All Bribes had been copied by him as well. And he is sending people over to a webpage of his own where they can get all of the bonuses without having to buy ‘The Irresistible Offer’ first. They just get them all.

I provided a bonus myself which is one I am not making available to anyone else - not even my personal list subscribers! I really don’t like that this happened. It kind of devaluates your offer when suddenly your product can be gotten all over the net for free.

So should you receive a free offer on a page called ‘markjoynerbonuses’ then know it’s illegally posted online.

Mark has spoken to the guy the other day and he claims he wasn’t aware of the fact you cannot just copy and download everything you encounter on the net. The guy needs a pair of glasses or do you too always miss the copyright notices which can be found on about each webpage you surf past?! Hmmm…

In any case don’t get into these kind of activities yourself. Not only is it not cool, you’ll get yourself into big trouble eventually. You can end up losing your site, your customers and all of your credibility. Plus it doesn’t really make you feel all that good about yourself. Surely you deserve to treat yourself better!
