Cats Beware! We’re armed to the teeth…

What would YOU do if the neighborhood cats collectively decide that your garden is the coolest garden to hang out in? Dropping little sticky lumps of digested cat food all over your lawn, in your sand pitch and any other place your toddlers also love to trod on bare feet?

That is the question which is currently on our mind. ‘Our’ as in me, my partner and our 4 boys…

As we were discussing this during dinner - ways to rid ourselves of unwanted cats - creative ideas were flying across the table like squash balls bouncing of the walls in a squash court.

No need to formulate a problem here. Everyone at the table had already stepped in this literally earlier today…

Instead we focused on anything we knew cats do NOT like and how we could use this knowledge creatively to put a stop to the way we are currently being harrassed.

This is what we came up with…

Does this need any further explanation?!

What you are seeing is a Mind Map. And as you can see few words were needed to convey out dirty little plans with each and any cat who has the guts to enter our garden in the near future…

MindMapping is a technique for making notes. Tony Buzan is the guy who first coined the name and developed the techniques. I have loved MindMapping ever since I first learned about it in 1986.

At the time I was studying Philosophy at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. The amount of pages we had to work ourselves through on a weekly basis was totally overwhelming and I was seriously considering quitting this study since it required me to give up my social life…

Then a friend of mine dropped me a book called ‘Use Both Sides of Your Brain’. Tony Buzan’s first published book and filled with gems to speed up your reading, improve your memory and decrease your time spent on making notes and studying.

A year later I began taching these techniques to teenagers who had been labelled ‘learning disabled’ and the results were astonishing to say the least. In my own life I have used MindMapping in many different areas:

  • to brainstorm business plans
  • to write reports
  • to work out websites designs
  • to summerize books
  • to take notes at meetings
  • to write courses and books
  • to plan holidays
  • and more…

In 2001 I developed a corporate training for the company I was then working for which has been used by them ever since to deliver trainings to a variety of companies including ABN/AMRO (the largest bank in the Netherlands), Sarah Lee, Unilever and various ministries.

Luckily I secured the rights to use my own materials and in the back of my head I’ve always been wanting to do something with these on the internet.

Well, that moment has finally arrived!

I teamed up with my friend Mindy Koch and together we’re creating an online course for MindMapping which is totally unique in its kind. With interactive step-by-step tutorials, enhanced with audio and video you now have a unique opportunity to discover all the secrets of MindMapping for yourself.

Here’s the Mind Map we used to plan the website…

Part 1 of the course is finished and…

You can get your hands on these materials 100% free of any charge!
