Letter from Mike Filsaime
Posted By Patricia Ritsema van Eck On 19th October 2006 @ 12:46 In integrated marketing, Recommended | 4 Comments
This letter by Mike Filsaime just arrived and it contains important information that I feel you really ought to read. So I’m posting it in it’s entirety here without comments or edits other than having added some bolds. Some of this will make more sense to you after reading Rich Schefren’s “The Final Chapter”. Mike refers to this himself as well, so do pick up a copy of that manuscript if you haven’t done so yet!
The message I am going to write to you today maybe a bit harsh to many reading this.
In fact, many people may look at this message and either get discouraged about Internet Marketing while others see light at the end of the tunnel.
So where do I begin?
Let me start by explaining the ‘State of the Industry’ as we know it. By ‘Industry’, I mean: Internet Marketing.
For the month of October of 2006, I was asked to be part of over 100 different ‘New Products Launches’ all coming out in ONE MONTH….
Over 75% of these ‘JV Requests’ I could not even respond too. (This does not include the dozens upon dozens that I am exposed to at the many seminars I speak at.)
I have a strict JV criteria to work with and it is time to make that criteria even more stringent.
I started to ask myself, “what is the cause of this?”
… Just when I think the ‘New’ Product launches will be behind us, 2 more POP up in its place…
When will it end?
The truth is, not for a very very long time. Not until we see a paradigm shift in the marketplace. And that may be coming VERY soon. More on that later…
Recently, I was given access to some startling data about our industry.
Why do I say shocking? Well, because it ’shocked’ the hell out of me when I read it.
Here are some results:
HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN ONLINE?
What that means is that Newbies are flooding in and quitting the game if they do not make money ‘fast’ and only a handful are making it work and making it last.
It also tells me, based on the flood of new ‘How to’ products, that the 11% of the ‘Old Timers’ are making there money to the opportunistic Newbies.
It does not matter if you are in the 41 percentile or the 11 percentile to see there is something wrong with this picture.
Such is the economy of any market.. It is ‘The Long Tail’ of the market. A small percentage of people making money on the large percentage of the market.
There is nothing wrong with that, if fact, there is no way this economy could work without a ‘Long Tail.’
The only question YOU need to ask yourself is: “What percentile do I fall into?”
The vast majority of you reading this are not yet in the 11 percentile. Sadly, many will quit the business before ever even making a single dollar on line.
In fact, nearly 1 in 5 people reading this do not even have a website and 33% only have 0-1 website online making any money. And the worst part is that over 85% of you reading this are losing money or breaking even…
How can this be?
The hard reality is there is an OVER abundance of good information.
So what is missing, you ask?
Over the years I have been online, some of the common things I have seen missing from those that decide to ‘Quit’ (and stay with the grind of the 40 hour work week) and those that make online success a ‘True Reality’ are listed below:
WARNING: Hard fact to follow -
If you do not have ALL 7 of these things in place, your chances of success are slim to none. (I would bet on none.)
Sadly, many, if they answer honestly, can identify with 3-4 at best (or less if they are REALLY honest with themselves.) I am not scoring you, so you may as well be honest.
Burning Desire:
I, nor anyone else, can teach you to have a ‘Burning Desire.’ That is something you must have. NOT a desire to have money or success, we all want that, a desire to do what it takes to get it.
There is no push button “Cash System” in a box. You have to be willing to work at it.
A Vision:
This means you have a clear understanding of how your business will work. Most people are just floating their boat in the ocean of Internet Marketing and letting the current determine your outcome.
Stephen Covey, author of: ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ states one of the Habits as - “Begin With The End In Mind”
Simple? Of course, but he felt it was important enough to dedicate an entire chapter to it, and I agree.
Very simple, if you do not know where you are going, how can you get there, and more importantly, how will your recognize it when you do?
A clearly defined goal for their business:
A detailed action plan:
A laser defined niche:
This is one of the biggest mistakes many of the soon to be quitters lack.
The main problem here is “Opportunity Distraction.”
MYTH: Opportunity only comes along once in a life time. The truth is they come along every day. How you handle them is the key here…
In fact, the definition I like for the word ‘Luck’ is as follows…
LUCK: When PREPARATION meets OPPORTUNITY
If you have a vision and a clearly defined goal for your business, you can now determine what opportunities compliment your goal and are congruent with your business goals or if the opportunity is really a cleverly disguised DISTRACTION.
I make it clear to people that work with me that they need to be great at ONE thing and good at every thing else.
PROBLEM - Those that quit, try to be great at everything and in the end… are great at nothing and good at making no money at all.
Example:
A high school kid, sees a Football player get signed for $25 Million Per year.
He states: “I want to be a Football player.”
*** WRONG!!
Let me ask you this…
NEVER….
Never!
Ah… But the quarterback makes $25 Million per year..
Why?
Because he is a specialist.
He is GREAT at ONE thing, and has an over all understanding of the entire game. In fact, he goes to practice with all of the other players.
So, when I say ‘Clearly Defined Goal’ I am asking you to pick your position and stick to it. Ebay, AdWords, Affiliate Marketing, Adsense and Content Sites, Niche Markets, Ecommerce… You name it.
Are you picking your position or are you trying to be a ‘well rounded’ Football player?
A Mentor:
This come in many forms. Generally, you want to learn from someone that you want to be like. Many times there is a price to pay for this. It can be money, or donating your skills as barter. Some times you just have to be inspired by someone and follow in their footprints. However, I have yet to find some one of true success that has not worked with a mentor in one way or another. I, myself, have paid over $75,000 in the last 3 years to my mentors.
(A small price to pay considering I now make that in 1 week.)
People hardly see the payoff. They focus on the investment, not the return on investment.
I was not making anywhere near the money than, (no surprise, that was why I looked for the right mentor) and it was not easy to pay, but I had a Vision, and wanted guidance from those that would let me walk in their footsteps.
People pay $30,000 per year to go to college, so after 5 years and $150,000, they can get a job paying $40,000 per year…
Oh… conventional upbringing tells us it is the right thing to do (and it is) to continue our education and we line up like ants to go to college, but when we see mentoring programs online, we think “I am not going to be exploited, this will only make the Guru’s rich and they probably won’t teach me anything new.”
Hey.. what do I know. Humor me if you will. Send an email to your favorite successful marketer, ask them who was their mentor(s). You will be hard pressed to find ANY of them tell you - “No One.”
Check your ego at the door. I was in a mentoring program and can rattle off some of the most successful names in the business that are in it too. We all walk the walk, not just talk the talk
(No, I am not selling you on my program. I only offer my mentoring at live events. So if you want to work with me, better get to the BigSeminar.com next week.)
I am selling you on the success principles. And having a mentor is one of them. Find your coach. Every successful athlete has one from Tiger Woods, to Andre Agasi, from Michael Jordan to Derek Jeeter.
Problem is for many, ‘Unconscious Incompetence.’ Meaning: You are not even aware of what you do not know. That is a scary thing.
Remember, early in this email, I stated:
When will it end?
The truth is, not for a very very long time. Not until we see a paradigm shift in the marketplace. And that may be coming VERY soon.. More on that later…
O.K. - So here it is…
A paradigm shift is coming. And it ties into the last key to the success principles.
A Master Mind Group
There is a paradigm shift in the marketplace coming. And it involves everyone in the industry.
In fact, I am going to share a report with you today that talks about the future of our Internet marketing Industry.
The Alliances are being formed…
I personally know of 2 of them and I am part of one of them and will be part of both very soon.
Basically, these are groups of people that will work together for their own success. The result is those that are not part of the group may see these groups take over the many niches currently marketed by others.
John Reese has even recently spoken about this, and Yes, HE too, is already part of it.
I know, many reading this may think that the few Elite are joining up against the weak. This is not the case. Many (including you) have already had a chance to be part of this.
However you look at this, one thing is a clear Fact:
The doors are open to a select few that have a vision and want to be part of a Master Mind Community that shares test results, shares websites, and shows strategies and tactics that are working and allows other members to exploit the same as well in the
markets.
The members, myself included, will be working together as a group to achieve success for all other members. The more success anyone has, the more success the entire master mind will have. The tide rises all boats.
So, what percentile will you be in next year? How do you score on the 7 success principles?
Well, Rich Schefren has written a report called:
“The Final Chapter” - by Richard Schefren
I have just touched the tip of the ice berg in the email today. He goes over it in detail…
I would strongly suggest you read it on the link below.
2nd -
In regards to the Master Mind, earlier this month I told my members about it. The sad fact was, by the time the email went out, it had sold out.
The Master Mind group, including (but many more)
…this group will now open, for the last time:
from: 12 PM EST Thursday October 19th
to: Midnight EST (Closed Permanently)
In fact, I am asking you to be part of this with me.
Ask yourself, “Does this fit in to my vision?”
If so, great.
I am having a workshop in Feb (23-25) on Long Island NY - This event will cost $5000 and I want to invite you to come for as my guest at NO CHARGE.
This event will be for 3 days, with myself and Tom Beal, with guest speakers Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins. It is not a seminar. It is a 3 days workshop where we are going to show 100 people how to build a six figure business online.
Here is the deal. Already 38 people are part of this master mind and already attending at no charge. We need to sell 50 at the full $5000 price. That only leaves 12 of these No Charge VIP tickets available.
So basically, only the first 12 people to join the Master Mind with me will also come to the event. Sorry, but their can be no exceptions. The other 50 seats need to be sold so my partner in the event can get his profit. I am giving away my 50 to my members and I can not be flexible for even 1 extra member.
So if to get “The Final Chapter” by Richard Schefren and to also see if this Master Mind group is for you, then please go to this page to investigate for yourself.
I hope you are the right person for this and I also hope you are one of the first 12 that will come to my $5000 workshop for no charge.
